Sitting outside the hut he shared with Kahlan, Richard gazed up at the night sky and noted, not for the first time, how different the stars were at home. In the Midlands, he knew the constellations like the back of his own hand, and with losing all of those waypoints had come feelings of being directionless, lost...unsteady, like his feet were no longer properly stuck to the ground, a single misstep would've brought disaster.<br /><br />But then, he'd found Kahlan on the beach, and she was a better and brighter waypoint than any star. <br /><br />Stretching a little, Richard got up and knocked the sand off of his boots before he went back into the hut. He couldn't help but grin to see Kahlan and Sabrina curled up together. &quot;You were here for two days before you became the favorite,&quot; he quipped, sitting down next to Kahlan and scratching the sleeping kitten on the top of her head. &quot;I should probably be offended, but I&nbsp;guess I&nbsp;can't really blame her.
